Restless by nature, on a whim I blew off city living and my career, to try my hand at a simpler-slower life in rural Tasmania. It's going to be one heck of a learning curve..join me as I find my feet, fingers crossed!

landscaping bug

I still have my head down & tail up with our Finnish helper trying to tame the undergrowth. So there’s been no time for socialising or day trips..arh!!

Lately I’ve had the mini chookettes out free-ranging. The other day all was going to plan until we found a Sparrow Hawk hiding in the herb garden right under our noses. All hell broke loose as the Hawks cover was blown, the Mother Hen was screeching & the Hawk was by now stuck in some chicken wire. I made a lunge for the Hawk but it finally freed itself. What a stunning and smart bird, it was hiding right next to a sparrows nest full of babies; dinner no doubt!

Also while at the Hobart tip shop, we found the chooks a groovy new retro nesting box..Super!!
