Restless by nature, on a whim I blew off city living and my career, to try my hand at a simpler-slower life in rural Tasmania. It's going to be one heck of a learning curve..join me as I find my feet, fingers crossed!

A couple of books..

A fan of anything River Cottage, the library has a collection of their Handbooks. Curious, I borrow the Veg Patch & Preserves Handbook .

As expected the books are simple, visual & packed with no-nonsense clear information. The Veg Patch Handbook has a Vegetable A-Z guide, small collection of groovy recipes & great cross-section of useful gardening info in-between. I particularly love the sections: Top 5 transformers, prioritising plot-to-plate veg & companion planting.

There’s so much to like about these innovative compact books, a real bonus for UK residents with all their detailed information. I still have the terrific Preserve Handbook to look over but right now I’m heading outside to make the River Cottage comfrey Tea for my garden….
